Artist Bio
Autumn Jensen-Roehl is a 26 year old Dena’ina Athabascan artist currently living in Portland, Oregon. Her work is reflective of her life from growing up in “the bush” of Alaska to exploring outside her home state and navigating life. Ranging from narrative autobiographical stories to cannabis appreciation due to her part-time budtending position, she creates vivid illustrations within watercolor, ink, digital and mixed media.
From the artist:
“Hello!
I’m an Alaska Native artist creating artwork and illustrations inspired by my experiences and perspectives throughout life. My work is heavily influenced by animation. Ranging from Studio Ghibli, Bee and Puppycat to Tokyo ghoul, and Bobs Burgers. The list goes on for what seems like eternity.
The deep emotional connection one feels while watching their favorite animation is something I aim for within my work. Of course I love to sprinkle in a little comedic flair as well, laughter is the best medicine. I strive for this due to the close companionship my favorite animations kept me throughout some of the darkest and the best times of my life.
I recently have been creating comics featuring a salmon person whom I’ve been doodling and developing for a couple of years now.
Here is a collection of my works going all the way back to 2018, feel free to check out my comics tab.
enjoy!”
